The Riverview Farm’s goal is to develop a regenerative farm that incorporates the production of vegetables, fruits, and livestock in a mutualistic environment. These different entities can function together while improving the fertility and nutrient cycle, thus creating a whole closed loop agricultural system.

Our practices include:

• Minimal Tillage of the soil to preserve and build as much organic matter as possible. This generates water retention and helps sequester carbon out of the atmosphere and keep it in the soil.
  
  
• Always having our fields covered with biomass residue or living crops. Bare soil exposed to wind and rain is soil at the mercy of the elements. We don’t want the soil blowing or washing away; so not only does coverage prevent erosion, but it also feeds the micro and macro organisms that we need for soil health and balance.
  
  
• Diversity, lots of it! Each time with introduce a different species to the farm we inadvertently introduce six to eight times as many. These species working together to keep balance on the farm is a key to biosecurity and resilient land. Additionally, all the different plants and animals add and subtract a variety of nutrients into and out of the system, helping to keep it in balance. In a healthy environment everything is eating and everything is being eaten!
